Marking with Inks and Paints

paint/ink marking services

TUS offers the option to mark your parts for you. We cover most ink marking techniques and standards, especially military, aircraft or medical standards.

Screen Printing Stencils

TUS offers stencils for industrial marking with screen printing techniques.
The paint is usually applied to the surface of the stencil and squeezed though the opening of the stencil with the help of a squeegee.
Screen printing stencils are reusable.

Masking Materials

Masking Materials are used for etching or painting of flat or slightly warped surfaces. They come with an adhesive backing.
The stencils are one time use stencils – they will be destroyed when removed from the original surface.
masking materials can be used for paint marking or glass etching.
Apply the paint/etching cream onto the open areas of the stencil and let it dry for some time. Afterwards remove the stencil and the inscription will show up on your part surface

Spraypaint stencils

TUS offers spray paint stencils that are usually used for repeating inscriptions with no major requirements for top qualities. Please note that these inscriptions can only be done in so called ‘stencil fonts’. The stencils are made from a slightly thicker plastic and they have no adhesive backing. Minimum font height for the inscription is a half inch, larger fonts are preferable.
The operator usually holds the stencil onto the surface and the sprays across the surface of the stencil. The open areas of the stencil will show up as inscription on the part. For slanted or vertical surfaces, the stencil can be taped onto the surface.

Frequently asked questions paint marking

Acid Etching is a marking technology that involves the application of an aggressive acetic paint. The paint etches into the metal and is therefore permanent. The marking method is very similar to glass etching.
The paints used for this marking technology have de facto been banned by the authorities in the late 2000’s. We are not aware of a source in North America that still offers these kind of paints.
Typically Acid Etching has been replaced by electro-chemical etching or paint marking with ‘ordinary’ paints.
